I will try to highlight some of the essential obstacles that
we are facing in applied mathematics as well as computational
science. Problems will be selected from different areas of science and
engineering, including fluid mechanics, quantum mechanics, material
science and soft condensed matter physics. Analytical, modeling as well
as numerical issues will be discussed. Emphasis will be placed on the
intellectual challenges as well as the broad impact that these problems
have.
