Chaotic Vibrations of Wave Equations and Applications

Abstract: There are many systems governed by partial differential equations which have very complicated dynamical behaviors. But it is usually challenge how to formulate such behaviors and then to rigorously prove them mathematically. In this talk, for one-dimensional linear wave equations with nonlinear boundary conditions, we characterize their complicate behaviors in terms of four different ways. Then we show the system has chaotic vibrations. As an applications, the observer design for such kind systems will be discussed.
